I have to be honest here.
I couldn't raise myself to head to Essex despite the attractive pricing and a relatively easy journey.
What transpired is exactly the kind of performance I was expecting from the current Charlton, under the stewardship of our Interim One.
His record speaks for itself.
It's pony.
Our club is broken.
In no way was Colchester beating Charlton a shock or an upset.
Magic of the cup?
Naah.
To this end, I gave myself a Charlton holiday and went to visit my mum in her care home.
Spending time with a person who is a shell of the one I remember is always done with a heavy heart.
At present it is millions of times preferable to spending any extra cash on Charlton.
Of course, just as you might look at a totally dependent, bed bound Altzheimer's patient and remember the good times, we can all look at the YouTube clips of Charlton's amazing history- the history KM has dismissed as irrelevant to the project The Shareholder has set up.
I refuse to accept the highlight of being a Charlton supporter should now be spotting ex Academy graduates on Match Of The Day.
I won't be getting all warm and fuzzy as I think of the handful of games they played for us before being sold off ASAP to keep the pockets bulging of our multimillionaire owner.
(Valley Gold anyone?)
Sorry KM but we deserve better.
If you wanted that kind of relationship with football fans customers, your boss should have bought into a League 2 club or below.
Of course, we may well be a League 2 club before the project is completed, though one with 'Premiership Aspirations' naturally.
Charlton Athletic 2016 is a mess.
The 'weird' customers have had enough.
Now that we are out of the cup, this gives us the opportunity to concentrate on getting into Division 1!

Marco. The same as you. I flew back to the UK for new year and originally planned to see the Forest game. Nut I decided to visit my mum, who like yours, is in a care home and rapidly disappearing into herself as Alzheimers takes control. Very much a down experience, but infinately better than giving my money to a regime who dub me a 'customer' as well as being worthlessly too old. I want themout of my club, and I doubt I'll enter the Valley again until that happens.

Love to see Charlton supporters on mass outside the Valley getting on coaches to another ground. Obviously not Palace or Millwall, I wouldn't go that far. But perhaps even the Gills, would provide far better entertainment than this shower can provide. Sad but it isn't anything like the football club it once was, or a football club at all, it's just a another failing business owned by an neglectful, disrespectful, eccentric. Perhaps it would make a useful pick up point! Posted by a recent ex Charlton supporter.
ReplyDeleteHi - felt compelled to comment on this. Marco and Ken - hope things not too bad - I have to drive down to Kent for that very same experience next weekend. I am proud of the fact that mum must be one of a rapidly diminishing band that were there on the day that our club won that F.A. Cup back in 1947. And I fear that number will very soon be reduced by one more. But at least the memories of our great club that she takes with here will be exclusively happy ones. Keith
ReplyDeleteI don't mind bein a customer as well as a fan meself cos less face it clubs aint nationalised n most of the fans dahn our gaff are right or ard right n against clubs bein state run. I think Katrien is doin a great job meself but then iss all to easy to be sexist cos when the male CEOs do badly they aint picked on in the same way are they.
ReplyDeleteAll the best for next weekend Keith. I've been doing the journey for 4 years now and it never gets easier for me. I hate it at times while never wanting to miss it in equal parts.
ReplyDeleteNow what does that remind me of?
Chin up Ken. It's a brutal disease but I'm sure somewhere inside your mum knows you care and appreciates all of your efforts
ReplyDeleteAbsolute offensive nonsense about sexism, if that were the case the other two (KF and RD) wouldn't be getting any stick only KM. West Ham fans aren't against Karen Brady because she knows and can do her job. Are we expected to believe Charlton are more sexist than the Hammers. I wouldn't mind if the three of them were all Belgium women, if I thought they respected our club.
ReplyDeleteSo if I or anyone else thinks she KM is doing a rubbish job then that makes me or them sexist. That's mad, bonkers, crazy LOL and even Margaret Thatchers supporters never used that one!
ReplyDeleteStepping aside from the 'mockney' phonetic style of writing that's pure faker bell-endery (and must be more of an effort to compose than writing properly), I'm seriously perplexed how anybody could seriously think KM is doing a good job.
ReplyDeleteHer mandate from the owner is to be his representative and to keep everything running smoothly on his behalf.
Regardless of where she comes from and her gender, the club and support base are so far away from pulling together and her clueless comments have only added to the maelstrom.
M.
Yeah n I stick by wot I say n all n Karen Brady didn't ave a backgrahnd in football but she picked it up n is doin well as is Katrien n the board who saved ourn from goin into administration, are investin in the trainin grahnd etc. I've never read so much abuse meself aimed at er n most of it I reckon iss cos she's a woman n as for all them Belgians ahrt chants n banners well there only one way to describe them - a bunch of exenophobes. We aint all ard right n against people cos of where they come from, exenophobes ahrt.
ReplyDeletea2c
Yoo showd ave gorn 2 Spek Sarvers, U mite find a branch in thar tket ofice soown, darn ur gaff mayte.

OK.
ReplyDeleteI'll bite.
They happen to be Belgian and we want them out.
We don't want them out *because* they are Belgian, we want them out because of the appalling mess they've made of running the club.
If they were all from Scotland then no doubt the Scottish label would be used. (At Newcastle they complain about the Cockney Mafia).
You seem very keen to label our support as xenophobes.
Your argument might have held water if it wasn't for the hero worship we've given players such as Kermorgant, Jensen, Di Canio... etc. etc. (I could go on).
I don't think our supporters are any different to fans of other clubs. Certainly no more agitated by where people come from.
When the Cardiff owner changed the club colours their fans quite rightly demonstrated against him.
Following your argument either a) they shouldn't have due to him being from another country or b) they were only demonstrating due to his nationality.
All a load of cock of course.
*Oh and we aren't all right wing bigots.
My status as a Union rep, voting record, marriage to someone not from these islands and default position for tolerance does not alter my view that I want these people well away from my football club.
Another load of cock is that that a2c claims not not be a troll, whilst defending this regime by attacking Charlton supporters with unsubstantiated fabricated and imagined accusations. A troll or just a spanner in the works?
ReplyDeleteYourn targettin them cos of their nationality, 'destroyed in Belgium' thass juss one exenophobic comment from the likes of yourn who I think are a disgrace to our gaff. Thass wot I call offensive. Iss all lies bile, malice n vitriol n all. If you aint exenophobic why keep on mentionin where they come from rather than sayin their names, iss a form of casual racism still casual by name n casual by nature which is wot you are. When Varney n Murray took ourn dahn to League 1 I can't remember yourn chantin English or Brits ahrt. When wallmart went dahn lass season their fans didn't chant Yanks ahrt, still least when it comes to their owner their fans aint exenophobes.
ReplyDeleteSums up juss wot sort of ard right fan you are all yourn do is leave abuse against people who aint like wot you are usin offensive words n all.
ReplyDeleteWill he JR be officially called ‘The Interim Interim One’.
ReplyDeleteNurse!
ReplyDeleteNURSE NURSE come quick!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYar mate you got me there spot on. I hate all f*****g Belgium's because they is a bunch of f******g Surrealists and Dadaists not to mention bleeding Inspector Poirot and grow tulips, no wait that's them others. Bang to rights.
ReplyDeletea2c.
ReplyDeleteEither you aren't very bright or find it impossible to follow what's going on due to having to maintain a position you decided to take up, that being anybody who disagrees with the Network, (based in Belgium, run by Belgians) is only doing it because they're taking time out from placing candles under their framed pictures of Enoch Powell.
-Or of course you're a troll who's had a few Baby-shams.
I will accept many things but without knowing me, trying to tell me I'm a racist because I don't agree with the way some people who happen to be foreign are destroying a great club is not even close to the truth and is offensive in the extreme.
I'm not interested in your half baked, bottom level sixth form, Rik from the Young Ones style utterances.
Well you asked for something juicy Marco and speaking of Surrealists, it wouldn't be half as entertaining without that nutter a2c god bless and lol Goodnight COYA!
ReplyDeleteMarco, putting us at the level of bistro is spot on.........I liked that !
ReplyDeleteSinglin ahrt the owner cos of their nationality iss bullyin n exenophobic n all yourn are doin is keep on bringin their race into it. If yourn want ourn to stay up bein negative abahrt all wass goin on dahn our gaff aint the way to do it. Instead of atred, bile n vitriol posts iss better to tell the owners ow they can improve things thass if you've got any ideas, oh I forgot you aint.
ReplyDeleteOh grow up.
ReplyDeleteIt's getting tiresome.
Your reception grade writing skills allied to your A grade stupidity has worn me down.
I'm not interested in your one dimensional argument.
Feel free to start up your own blog when you've learned how to compose a sentence.
Yeah well I don't agree with your exenophobic crap n personal insults either but then yourn are sposed to be in favour of free speech but are against people with a different view comin on ere. Thass wot the fascists are all abahrt n sums you up n all. When it comes dahn to it you've only got one view n all, n thass a negative on on ere.
ReplyDeleteYawn.
ReplyDeleteBore off.
*Oh and by the way, nobody is impressed that somehow you've picked up the word "xenophobic," even if you do keep changing the spelling.
ReplyDeleteLooks like your tired ahrt time for bed already, still thass wot they say wot goes rahnd comes rahnd.
ReplyDeleteIf that last comment made any kind of sense I'd still think you are a complete imbecile.
ReplyDeleteDon't waste your time replying to this or any other posts. They won't get published.
